Dr Vel Suminguit continues his work in education and research. He is now at the Central Mindanao University in Musuan, Bukidnon. His family, Ever, Shawnie, and Donald, live in Malaybalay City about 15 kilometers away from the university. Shawnie is now in first year of college studying nursing. Donald is in third year of High School. Shawnie was among the awardees for excellence in studies when she graduated. Donald is most often in the top ten of his class. Ever continues to be a loving mother to her children.

Deonito Suminguit, better known as “Jeannie”, is working his farm and building a modest home and a small store next door to where his wife, Daisy, teaches elementary school. They have two boys, Donald John, better known as “DJ”, and Donnie John, better known as “Onnie”. DJ is 10 and does well in school when he puts his mind to the work. Onnie is 3 and is learning well before going to school. His older brother is his “teacher”.

Rosalyn Suminguit Navaro is now a teacher in Tubod National High School. “Saling” and her husband have two boys, RJ and EJ. They are both in elementary school in Mahayag, Zamboanga del Sur, where their father “YolYol” is a teacher.

Many of you will remember that the father of these three was murdered during Marcos reign of terror.
Francis Colon, who is the son of Carmen Dalumpines Colon, is now an electrical engineer living and working in Manila. Francis has not yet married, but is getting serious with a nice young lady. He has recently been offered the possibility of going to work in the USA.

The mother of Francis was one of the very first kids we put through school as a teacher. She is still teaching in her home barrio at the public elementary school. She shocked me recently when she talked about “retirement”. I still think of her as one of my first catechists and the young girl whose first ride in a jeep was to go to College down in Pagadian City.

Carmen’s daughter, May May, is now a nurse working in the public hospital in Margosatubig, Zamboanga del Sur. She has applied for a VISA to go to work abroad in Dubai. Carmen’s other son, Von Von, is a seaman somewhere in the world … That was his life’s dream to travel the world as a seaman on a ship. Her youngest daughter works in Ozamiz City. She finished her studies in Social Work with emphasis on communications with the deaf mutes. There are not near enough people with such a degree and so the deaf mutes often go through life unschooled and uncared for.

We had one wedding this year. Roland Tacder, who is now a teacher in Bonifacio, Misamis Occidental, was married to his wife Jennalyn last May. They will be expecting their first child in a few months, God willing and all continues to go well.

Description: Aiden Yrauda 2nd Birthday.JPGRollan Yrauda, now a master electrician, works in a big mall in Cagayan de Oro. His wife and daughter live with her family in Clarin, Misamis Occidental. They are expecting their second child before Christmas.

(Rollan’s daughter Aiden at her second birthday dinner with “Grandpa”)

Doctor Eva Marie Pedrosa Baldo is practicing in a hospital in Pasay City, a part of Metro Manila. Her husband is an architect with a job at a flourishing company in Manila. Doctor “Langging”, as she is known, treats many of our hemophilia children or refers them to a hematologist at Philippine General Hospital when needed. Eva Marie was named after my mother since she was born shortly after mom and dad left to return to the USA after a seven month visit. She has two children who are both still quite young.

Roderick, Eva Marie’s older brother works as a security guard and is just in the process of buying his first home just outside of Manila. Roderick is married to Annie and they have one daughter.

Roderick’s younger brother, “Jojo” is a radiation technologist and works in a hospital near to his home in Molave, Zamboanga del Sur. Jojo is married and he and his wife have one child.

Ching Ching PedrosaFRITCHIE “Ching Ching PEDROSA College Graduate Bachelor of Science
Business Administration
. “Ching Ching” is the youngest of the Pedrosa family. She is working in the Paglaum Multipurpose Cooperative in Josefina, Zamboanga del Sur, her home town. She is still single..

Many of you will remember that Vic Pedrosa worked with me way back in the early 1980s when he was newly married and I was running the Social Action Center in Pagadian City.

Joseph MaqulingJoseph Maquiling is now a teacher in a public school way up in the mountain of his home town. He was fortunate and good enough to get hired only one year after graduating. Joseph is still searching for the right partner to share his life with. Joseph and his younger brother, Joshua, are both hemophiliacs. Joseph was one of the first hemophiliacs that I took into my house in Dumaguete so he could continue his education in High School and College. His brother joined us after the unfortunate death of their mother in a motorcycle accident.

There are many more graduates and many “grandchildren” that I could write about. These are some of the ones who have remained closest to me.
